About AdvanceKentucky: AdvanceKentucky began work in 2008 with the goal of promoting equitable and successful access to Advanced Placement coursework for all students across the Commonwealth. Since that time, we have expanded our efforts to support middle school mathematics and K-12 computer science. 

Our mission is to work with local, state, and national partners to dramatically expand student access to and success in rigorous coursework for all students, enabling them to pursue advanced college and career opportunities. 

Position Summary:  The Math Content Manager supports effective performance of the Access to Algebra program and utilizes their educational background and content knowledge to assist with curriculum and vertical teaming, teacher training development and implementation, school assessment/data analysis, and other duties that support the goals of Access to Algebra in alignment with KSTC/AdvanceKentucky’s mission, objectives, and key results (OKRs).

The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with innovative thinking, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a deep understanding of classroom pedagogy. Additionally, the candidate should be adept at building and managing a network of external teacher contractors and educational partners. Established connections within these spaces, particularly across Kentucky, will be a valuable asset.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom and Content Support

  • Build strong relationships with program teachers to foster a culture of support and professional growth.
  • Provide content support for teachers through lesson modeling, resource sharing, curriculum planning, teaming, and ongoing communication.
  • Conduct on-site visits to schools and classrooms to observe, support, and assist teachers as needed.
  • Meet with classroom teachers regularly throughout the school year and with school administrators as needed to address instructional needs.
  • Support the implementation of professional learning strategies developed by AdvanceKentucky.
  • Support school goals to increase the number of students meeting college readiness benchmarks and enrolling in Algebra 1 by 8th grade. 
  • Collect and report data on teacher engagement and classroom implementation to inform program improvement.

Events

  • Support the planning and coordination of AdvanceKentucky’s annual professional development events for teachers and students.
  • Assist with logistics, scheduling, and communication related to teacher training sessions and workshops.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training materials, presentations, and resources for content teachers.
  • Stay current in the content area by participating in relevant conferences, trainings, and professional learning opportunities.

Outreach and Recruitment

  • Help maintain a network of teachers, mentors, and consultants who support student success in advanced coursework.
  • Assist with outreach and recruitment of new schools, teachers, and partners to expand access to advanced coursework.
  • Contribute to efforts that promote awareness and engagement among partners and stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with AdvanceKentucky and KSTC team members to identify opportunities for growth and program support.
  • Support the creation of marketing materials, presentations, and events that highlight AdvanceKentucky’s mission and programs.

Program Data and Logistics

  • Serve as a resource for teachers and schools regarding test implementation and data reporting.
  • Assist with data collection, organization, and analysis to track progress and identify trends.
  • Support the Access to Algebra Program Director in managing program logistics.
  • Provide regular updates to the Access to Algebra Program Director on program activities, outcomes, and needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields
  • Experience in math education
  • Proficiency with Kentucky Math Academic Standards
  • Must have own transportation and be willing to travel 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Multiple years of teaching experience
  • Middle school math education background
  • Experience managing large professional networks and coordinating professional development including curriculum setting and/or development
  • Experience with and understanding of AdvanceKentucky’s mathematics lessons and training and High-Quality Instructional Resources (HQIR) as defined by the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE)
  • Strong familiarity with college-readiness assessments and data analysis
  • Experience in facilitating professional development and/or fulfilling teacher leadership roles
